Lockheed Martin’s Leadership and Perseverance Award

Bethesda, Maryland, Oct. 16, 2023 — Xiphos Partners, a global advanced sustainment and simulation training firm, is proud to announce that the Lockheed Martin Corporate Sustainment Council has recognized the Xiphos advanced sustainment team with the Council’s Leadership and Perseverance Award. The award recognizes the team’s accomplishments in their work to create the environment for sustainment success. Awardees from the Xiphos team, led by Advanced Sustainment Program Manager and Xiphos Chief Engineer Steve Skiptunas, include Edward Reed, Senior Engineer, and Pete DeVito, Lead Data Scientist.

“The catalyst morphing Lockheed Martin’s digital transformation within F-35 sustainment, the Aero F-35 Digital Transformation/Performance-based Logistics (PBL) team created the environment, decision support systems, and processes required to successfully propose, negotiate, and execute a firm-fixed-price performance-based logistics contract,” said Bruce Litchfield, Vice President of Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Sustainment Operations and Corporate Sustainment Council Chairman.

According to Litchfield, the team worked multiple facets of the digital thread, developed new software and tools to process engineering and fleet data, produced modeling input parameters, and converted data into future performance projections and associated cost-benefit analysis (CBA). Because of the team’s work, he said the company bid a five-year PBL proposal with confidence, well-positioned for execution success.

“The Xiphos team partnered with Lockheed to transform its ability to forecast worldwide fleet needs more accurately, leveraging the experience and application of Xiphos’ advanced sustainment software platform, METIS,” said Dan Cardiello, Managing Partner, Xiphos Partners.

“We are honored to receive this award and to work on the F35 program, the largest defense program in history with by far the most complex sustainment system in the industry,” said Cardiello. “This award acknowledges the transformative impact of advanced analytics and forecasting and celebrates the critical business and government relationships that drive innovation.”
