What is JVT FPV?

JVT FPV is an immersive capability that trains pilots and attack teams in a realistic, virtual combined arms environment, integrating small UAS flight training into complex fire scenarios. Drone operators can train across a variety of terrains and current mission profiles as executed by the  Marine Corps Attack Drone Team (MCADT).  

JVT FPV is hardware agnostic with an open architecture designed to accommodate existing investments, and currently uses the same heads-up display and controllers preferred by MCADT for realistic form, fit, and function.  JVT FPV users can learn to fly – and fight – entirely out of the box with a portable kit that can be carried in one hand.

It’s designed to give operators the UAS training and skills they need to turn a technological edge into an operational advantage.

Initial FPV System Usage
Highly accurate, representative training using FPV platforms approved on the DIU UAS Blue List helps trainees learn to operate drones confidently. A responsive UI realistically reflects what they expect to see with signal, battery, and voltage affected by use and environment
Weapons Employment
JVT FPV integrates into the fire support network. Operators can practice calling in and coordinating fires, understanding targeting procedures, effects and safety considerations in a low-risk environment, complete with realistic kinetic effects of weaponized drones.

How portable is an FPV kit?
The FPV kit comes in a single-man portable, waterproof, rolling, Storm Pelican case weighing 45 lbs.
What's included in the FPV kit?
Included in the FPV Kit is a Laptop, VR HMD, VR Controllers, RC Drone Controller, Mouse, Power Strip
Is FPV interoperable with other simulators?
Yes, JVT FPV is interoperable with the majority of DIS/HLA compatible simulators.  VBS, MACE, ASCOT, and ASTI.
Is FPV accredited?
Currently there is no accreditation for FPV from the Joint Staff - the USMC is currently building training and evaluation measures.
Is FPV only a JTAC trainer?
JVT-FPV is another tool in the JVT suite which includes surface and aviation fires trainers for all service members, specializing in forward observers, Joint Fires Observers, and Joint Terminal Attack Controllers.
